So of all the causes of pressure in the spine – emotional stress is the most common and most intense. Especially with so much stress in the world today – more and more people are having health problems related to their spine and nerve system.

So what are sources of stress that could affect the spine?

Stress can come from so many sources:

1. Internal – dealing with work, school, relationships (including family or friends), financial, worrying about the past or the future.

2. External – concerns about your city, country or the world politically, environmentally or economically. Anxiety about how the world will be tomorrow or for years to come.

Feeling stressed can trigger emotions such as anger, feeling overwhelmed, sadness, chronic tension, confusion and even grief. So how does this affect the nerve system?

Overstimulation from stress can cause the nerve system to be overactive and get “stuck”. This overactivity can lead to muscles contracting, stress hormones being released, low energy, pain in the body, poor mood, and even affect the quality of sleep.

What are things you can do to help remove stress from the nerve system?

1. Make time for deep breathing. Before bed is ideal since this will help you sleep better.

2. Stretching. Any time we stretch we remove tension from the body and the spine – and this helps the mind and body heal.

3. Journalling – whatever you are feeling – get it out on paper. Great way to help with stress and one of my favourites.

4. Talk to someone you trust – a family member or friend. You may even need to hire a professional.

5. Getting adjusted – one of the biggest benefits of Chiropractic care is that it helps remove stress from the nerve system. It helps you function at a higher level so you think more clearly and feel more relaxed.

Stress will always be part of our lives. But if we are strong in mind and body, we are better equipped to handle life.

Mandatory Face Masks

Following local bylaws and building requirements – we are asking all patients to wear a face mask when you come to our office for your appointments. We need your help to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are also taking steps for regular cleaning of adjusting tables after every patient visit as well as regular cleaning of the entire office.

As always:

a) if you have any fever, cough or cold please cancel your appointment and wait 14 days to let your symptoms past. Contact your family doctor to decide on the best course of action.

b) if you are being tested for COVID wait for the results before booking your next appointment. If the results are negative you should be fine. If the results are positive you must stay home for at least 14 days. Again contact your family doctor.

c) in the office keep space between yourself and other patients of 6 feet.

d) If you need a receipt or statement they will be emailed to you after the shift. Let us know if you need a statement every 2 weeks or
monthly.
